Present Job Function: Slane joined Sandy Spring Bank in the metro D.C. area in 2018 as the chief risk officer. He currently oversees the development and operations of the bank’s risk management program with a focus on safely enabling business strategies to drive Sandy Spring Bank’s long-term success. With more than 35 years of experience across multiple banking disciplines, Slane is an accomplished financial services executive. He currently oversees enterprise risk management, operational risk management, credit risk management, and various risk disciplines that support those functions.
Previous Employment: Prior to joining Sandy Spring Bank, Slane was the director of enterprise risk management at Hancock Whitney Bank in the Gulf South where he was responsible for establishing and operating the company’s enterprise risk management program. Slane had similar risk management responsibilities previously at First Horizon Corporation in Memphis, TN and Wachovia Corporation in Charlotte N.C. Slane spent his early career in technology and bank consulting at First Union, Wachovia, and Price Waterhouse.
Education: Slane holds a BA in accounting from Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C
